ELECTION GENERAL INFORMATION
The City of Saint Hedwig holds its General Election  every year on the first Saturday of May.
Election is held at:

The office of Mayor and City Council Place 2 and Place 4 
are up for election on even numbered years.

The office of City Council Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5 
are up for election on odd numbered years.

All elected officials serve two-year terms.

CANDIDATE INFORMATION

CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications per Type A City, Local Gov't Code, Section 22.032,  and other eligibility requirements of the Texas Election Code and Local Government Code.

1. RESIDENCY

For Office of Mayor:
  • One (1) year in the State of Texas prior to filing deadline and
  • One (1) year in the City of Saint Hedwig (within the city limits) prior to election day.
For Office of City Council:
  • One (1) year in the State of Texas prior to filing deadline and
  • Six (6) months in the City of Saint Hedwig (within the city limits) prior to election day.
2. AGE

Candidate must be minimum 18 years of age.

3. VOTER REGISTRATION

Candidate must be a registered voter in the territory elected from 
by the filing deadline.

CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD:

First day to file an application for a place on the ballot:  
30th day before the filing deadline.

Last day (filing deadline) to file an application for a place on the ballot:  
78th day before election day, 5:00 p.m.
